AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's track and field team swept the weekly awards for the Peach Belt Conference that were released on Wednesday from the league offices in Augusta, Ga. Senior Lara Way was named the PBC Track Athlete of the Week and junior Macy Hayes the PBC Field Athlete of the Week.
Hayes set the new record for the high jump with a height of 1.62 meters, taking second place in the process. The junior from Winder, Ga., hit the mark on her third and final attempt at that height. The Augusta University's women's outdoor track and field team traveled to Rome, Ga. Saturday, March 3 to compete in the Victor Icebreaker Duals, hosted by Berry College, in the second meet of the season. The Jaguars took seventh out of 17 teams with 55 points.
Way won her second event of the season on March 3 at the Victor Icebreaker Duals in Rome Ga. The senior from Martinez, Ga., took the title in the 5000-meter run and broke the school record with a time of 17:49.05. She has now won two events this season in two meets and been top five three times and top 10 all four events.
