--Augusta State split a pair of matches Saturday in the
second day of the University of Charleston Invitational.
ASU blanked Concord 3-0 (25-12, 25-18 and 25-9) behind junior
Jessica Howard, who paced the Jaguars with 13 kills. Freshman
Kristania Crawford notched 21 assists while sophomore Chase Lowther
posted 11 digs and three service aces. Freshman Shanley McIntee
added 10 digs.
In the second match of the day, ASU fell to West Virginia State 3-0
(24-26, 12-25, 24-26). Howard again led the Jags offensively with
13 kills. Lowther and junior Lindsey Weider netted 19 and 17 digs,
respectively. Freshman Ashley Zappitell logged 26 assists.
The Jaguars (4-4) return to action on Friday, Sept. 12 in the
Tusculum Fall Classic in Greeneville, Tenn.
