In January 2017, long time Augusta University Athletics employee Dr. Lisa Cummins was promoted to head athletic trainer for the Jaguars. Cummins spent 14 years under former trainer John “Doc” Sullivan as the assistant athletic trainer. Cummins enters her 23rd year with Augusta University Athletics in 2024-25.

In June 2024, Cummins was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. 

Cummins oversees the men's basketball team and assists in all 13 sports for the Jaguars. 

Prior to joining the Jaguars, Cummins was the senior athletic trainer for GR Health. She runs the day-to-day operations in the training room, maintains the care of the 13-collegiate sports, and works closely with AU Health to provide the best care for student-athletes.

Born in Jacksonville, N.C., Cummins attended Millersville University and played softball from 1985-86 before heading to Slippery Rock University, where she played lacrosse in spring 1990. She graduated with her undergraduate degree from Slippery Rock and received her master's of education in exercise science. Cummins received her doctorate in athletic training from Moravian University in 2022.
