Volleyball Posts Three On PBC All-Academic Team

Junior Cat DeSilvester sophomores Paige Elliott and Thurston represent Augusta on conference list

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University junior Cat DeSilvester and sophomores Paige Elliott and Sadie Thurston made the 2015 Peach Belt Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team for their outstanding performances in the classroom this season. The PBC released the team from their offices in Augusta on Thursday morning.

Cat DeSilvester ranks fifth in the league in total digs (442) and is ninth in digs per set this season (4.38 dps). She leads the Jags in digs and is second in service aces and fourth in sets in her 27 matches played.

Paige Elliott has started 13 of her 24 matches on the year and has carded 125 kills (1.69 kps). Elliott ranks second on the team in blocks (46) and she has recorded nine aces so far.

Sadie Thurston ranks eighth in the Peach Belt in assists per set (8.12 aps) and she ranks second for the Jaguars with 398 total assists. In her 19 matches on the year, Thurston has made 11 starts and recorded 106 digs (2.12 dps) and seven blocks and aces.

The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
