Jags Outlasted By USC Aiken 3-1, Augusta Celebrates Annual Pink Out Match

Jaguars hosted annual PINK OUT game, raising awareness and supporting the Cancer Center

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's volleyball team hosted their annual Pink Out match to support the Cancer Center and the Jaguars dropped a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference match in Christenberry Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon after taking the initial lead.

The Jags (13-9, 5-7 PBC) were in pink and helped raise money and support for the university Cancer Center. For every dig the Augusta team recorded, fans pledged money towards the Cancer Center!

The crosstown rivalry was alive between Augusta and USCA (20-3, 9-3 PBC) in set one with the match seeing 13 tied scores in the opening set and six lead changes. Tied 19-19, the Jags sparked a three-point run to lead 22-19 and forcing a USCA timeout. Out of the break with JaNhea Beisner on serve, the Jags took the set 25-21. Blair Bolton had five kills in set one to pace the offense and Kali Boatwright and Kailla Baptiste added three each.

The Pacers produced the first point of set two and controlled the set to take a 25-18 final win. Augusta allowed the USCA a .309 attack percentage across the match and recorded a .174 percentage of their own.

Augusta's Savanna Gonzales entered the match for the first time in set three and her first two swings were good for two Jaguar kills on the left side. The Jaguars tied the score three times in set three, but the Pacers were too much and took the day 3-1 thanks to a 25-15 set-three win and a 25-16 set-four victory.

Baptiste led the Jags with 10 kills, Boatwright had nine kills and 15 digs, and Rachel Windle added eight and six digs. Jordan Bickett produced three aces, five kills, and five digs, while Cat DeSilvester had 12 digs and three assists.

Augusta plays at Paine College tonight, Saturday Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m. in The HEAL Complex before hitting the road for three straight league matches.
