AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Augusta University women's basketball team won a nail-biter Monday evening against Columbus State in its second Peach Belt Conference matchup of the season. After the 47-48 win, Augusta improves to 7-2 (1-1 PBC) while Columbus State falls to 5-3 (0-1 PBC)

The Jaguars had a 16-10 lead after a strong start in the first quarter. Both teams struggled offensively in the second quarter with each squad only scoring nine points in the period. The Cougars were able to outscore AU 15-11 in the third quarter sending the home team into the final period with a narrow 2 point lead.
After losing the lead early in the quarter, a layup by
Kennedi Manning with just under three minutes left to play put Augusta back up 45-44. A jumper from Columbus State gave the Cougars a one-point lead with 2:20 left in regulation. A CSU foul took
Tomiyah Alford to the free-throw line, sinking both and sealing the win for Augusta.
Kennedi Manning led scoring ad rebounding for AU. In yet another double-double performance, Manning had 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 steals. Last week's player of the week
Tomiyah Alford turned in 15 pointts and 5 rebounds.
